USA T he Jack McKenzie Memorial Award was first presented by the Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout in 1992 and is presented annually to a local resident “in recognition of selfless dedication to the community and its people”. The award is in memory of the late Jack McKenzie, an outstanding volunteer who, for many years, served on a wide variety of committees and organizations. In the area of Sioux Lookout the Nordic Nomads XC Ski Club manage and maintain over 25 kilometres of cross country ski trails. The Ojibway Power Toboggan Association maintains 150 kilometres of local and provincial snowmobile trails in the region. The snowmobile trails connect Sioux Narrows with some of the other villages in the region. The backline of every lot runs along the Sioux Lookout Public Golf Course property line.
There are challenging and relaxing trails as well as a 5 km racing loop. Sioux Lookout Nordic Nomads concluded this winter s cross-country ski challenge on March 31. The event welcomed 74 participants across five age groups, ranging from three to 80 years of age.
